The SABC has confirmed the passing of Umhlobo Wenene FM presenter, Nomampondo Noluthando Simayi, who passed on Saturday, 17 February in a tragic car crash.
Simayi was returning from the funeral of a collegue when she met with her untimely death.
The beloved radio personality is best known for her portrayal of Nosiseko in the weekday soapie “Ithini Na Lento”.
SABC Eastern Cape Business Manager, Loyiso Bala extended his heartfelt condolences to the grieving family and paid tribute to Simayi.
“She devoted her time in showcasing the SABC’s public service mandate in a meaningful way by keeping fans of the soapie Ithini Na Lento informed, educated and entertained through tackling various issues that affect society.
Through her remarkable portrayal of Nosiseko for 10-years, she managed to tell an impeccable story in an authentic manner and her legacy will endure through the cherished memories she leaves behind.”
Nomampondo Noluthando Simayi was travelling with two other SABC drama actors, Nokukhanya Kula and Mzwandile Nzene who were critically injured in the same car cash.
Simayi’s passing comes just a week after the passing of two other SABC personalities Rev Rweqana and Sonwabo Yawa.
