Beloved South African actress Crystal-Donna Roberts has sadly passed away at the age of 40 following a battle with breast cancer.
Roberts was a versatile actor, leaving a significant mark on screen.
Her acting career featured roles in popular productions like 7de Laan, Chronicle, The Endless River, and Die Ongelooflike Avonture van Hanna Hoekom.
Beyond acting, she also authored the children’s book, Speuder Sammi.
In 2017, Roberts played a role in the movie Krotoa where she won a South African Film and Television Award (SAFTA) for Best Actress in a Film for her portrayal of the lead character.
A Cape Town native, Roberts cultivated her passion for the arts by earning a drama degree from the University of the Free State.
She then shared her knowledge as a drama teacher back in Cape Town, before dedicating herself to her successful acting career.
Roberts’ life took a challenging turn after a 2018 breast cancer diagnosis, which she publicly shared in 2019.
According to reports, she passed away peacefully in her sleep early on Thursday, 6 March 2025.
Her husband, Schalk Cornelessen, announced her passing on social media, where he shared the news with friends and family.
“Rest in peace my beautiful beautiful loving wife,” Cornelessen wrote.
