The trailer for the second part of Steinheist, which provides a more in-depth examination of South Africa’s largest corporate scandal, has been released by Showmax.
Showmax’s Steinheist explores the massive corporate controversy involving Markus Jooste, the former CEO of Steinhoff, a massive South African retailer.
The documentary reveals the dishonest bookkeeping techniques that caused the business to abruptly fail, erasing billions of dollars in investor capital. Many people demanded accountability after the documentary’s original distribution, which caused enormous public outcry.
After the first three episodes were released in 2022, the next part 2, which will include episodes 4 and 5, will focus on the tightening legal net surrounding Jooste.
Steinheist has a compelling lineup of voices dissecting the Steinhoff saga. We hear from Christo Wiese, the former chairman, offering his take on the collapse and his connection to Markus Jooste. Then there’s Lesetja Kganyago, the Reserve Bank governor, shedding light on how regulators reacted to the crisis.
Zwelakhe Mnguni, a key player in initiating the criminal case, provides a crucial perspective. Alec Hogg from BizNews guides us through the complex legal landscape, while Rob Rose, the author of the book Steinheist, lays out the intricate web of fraud.
