Prince Mbongiseni Zulu shot and killed near KwaNongoma.
Following the shooting death of a prominent Zulu royal family member who was close to King Misuzulu KaZwelithini, police have been urged to launch a prompt investigation.
On Thursday night, Prince Mbongiseni Milton Muntukaphiwana Zulu and his bodyguard and were assassinated in KwaNongoma, KwaZulu-Natal.
TimesLive reports that Prince Mbongiseni Zulu was one of the members of the royal family who was essential to Misuzulu’s accession to the throne.
Two people, ages 63 and 33, were shot shortly after 6 o’clock, according to Brig Jay Naicker, spokesman for the KZN provincial police.

According to Naicker, neither the circumstances nor the reason for the shooting is known.
“Charges of murder are [being] investigated by Nongoma SAPS,” he said.
