In 2020 SABC news did an interview with homeless people in Pretoria addressing their situation during the lockdown period, a man came forward, now affectionately known as Alostro, and said “others they see others they have Alostro.”
This angered some of the homeless people on sight who wanted to beat him up.
It was later discovered that Alostro is a term used in Pretoria for Nyaope withdrawal symptoms. Since that video, the man has become an internet sensation.
People who spot him in the Pretoria CBD have been taking videos of him and sharing them on social media. One gentleman gave him some cash to help him start his own cigarette business. He also promised to buy him more packets of cigarettes to sell if his business becomes successful.
Saw Alostro and gave him something and genuinely seeing him happy made my day🥺❤️ pic.twitter.com/07X9auYvp0
