Police have confirmed that the suspected police killer who gunned down an off-duty South African Police Service (SAPS) officer has been arrested.
The 33-year-old suspect was arrested just 8 hours after allegedly killing the officer on 15 July at the Burgersfort SAPS.
A group of assailants in a bronze VW Golf 7 GTI were responsible and together with a specialized team, the investigation led police to Braamfontein where the suspected vehicle with three occupants was located and tactically cornered.
According to police the driver is suspected to be the one who killed the officer and was subsequently arrested.
Investigations led the team to the suspect’s residential address in Rooihuiskraal, Centurion where the firearm that is suspected to have been used to kill the officer was found and seized.
Police are investigating to determine if the suspect is linked to other crimes, and will appear in the Lebowakgomo Magistrates Court this week.
The suspect faces charges of murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm, and ammunition, and other possible charges.
