Kgomotso Christopher stars as the lead character, Nandi, in Netflix’s captivating thriller Fatal Seduction, a series that tells a tale of “unwavering passion and desire, unraveling in a dark story built around a web of lies and deceit.”
The story is centered around Kgomotso Christopher’s Nandi, who spends a weekend away from her husband and meets the seductive Jacob, who ignites her deepest passions, causing her to question the truth about her relationship. Christopher spoke recently to Oak Magazine about the preparations that went into playing the fiery Nandi, sharing that it all lies in the training.
Christopher shared insights into the preparation process for her layered portrayal of the fiery character, Nandi. She emphasized the importance of training
“For me, I’ve never really struggled with stepping in and stepping out. But stepping in is usually quite difficult because you have to find facets that are not you, yet you must embody them, and they become you. The challenge for a performer is to step into someone’s world and be a vessel—physically, emotionally, and vocally,” explained Christopher.
From a technical aspect, Nandi goes through many different story beats. To keep track of these intricacies Christopher carried a beat diary on set to remember flashbacks and beats from ten years ago or a particular day.
Kgomotso Christopher highlights the personal connection to Nandi
Interestingly, both Christopher and Nandi have a connection to the University of Cape Town (UCT). Christopher studied law at the Cape Town-based institution, which brings a sense of familiarity to the role. Recalling her own time at UCT, Christopher mentions the lecture halls and the relatable aspects of Nandi’s character.
“I studied law, so it was like déjà vu because I know those lecture halls. It’s the closest relatable aspect of her character. What intrigued me was the blind spot she had. I am not a person who has blind spots. I had to mute that side of me, but Nandi, this is happening right in front of you. Nandi is a believer; she believes in the good in everyone, and that creates the blind spot,” said the actress.
