South Africans are warned to brace for another cold front which is expected this week over western parts of the country, making its way inland by the weekend.
According to the South African Weather Service (SAWS), the prediction is that the cold snap is going to bring a high chance of thunderstorms and heavy showers across the Western Cape, Eastern and Northern Cape, as well as KwaZulu-Natal.
The cold will likely set in over Gauteng, North West, Free State, and Mpumalanga by Friday, with temperatures expected to drop significantly.
Temperatures for Friday:
- Pretoria: Minimum (Min) 4 – Maximum (Max) 14
- Johannesburg: Min 2 – Max 12
- Vereeniging: Min -2 – Max 10
SAWS also expects more snowfalls over parts of the Mpumalanga highveld, bringing icy temperatures across most of Gauteng, Free State, and the North West as a result.
More snow is also likely for Johannesburg from next week after the surprising burst of snowfalls over parts of the city last week.
