A second suspect has been arrested in connection with the murder of 14-year-old Likhona Fose. The arrest was confirmed on Thursday morning by Johannesburg MMC for Public Safety, Dr. Mgcini Tshwaku.
The suspect, a Pakistani national, is the owner of a spaza shop in Durban Deep, Roodepoort.
In response to the arrest, frustrated residents reportedly looted the shop earlier on Thursday, 12 June 2025.
“The area is experiencing heightened tensions, with the shop being looted. The JMPD has been deployed to maintain order and prevent further violence,” said Tshwaku.
He added that the investigation remains ongoing, with authorities continuing efforts to gather evidence and bring all those responsible to justice.
Meanwhile, Mduduzi Mnisi, who is also accused of Fose’s murder, appeared before the Roodepoort Magistrates Court on Thursday for his bail application.
The bail hearing application has been postponed to 18 June 2025.
Fose’s mutilated body was discovered last month in a veld not far from her home.
The discovery left residents concerned and frustrated, citing that they are scared for their children’s safety.
