South African rapper Okmalumkoolkat has lost his grandmother who was 95 years old.
Taking to social media, the musician honoured his grandmother for the role she’s played in his life. “Rest up easy Gogo Original®️ you lived long and well, 5 years short of a century but still was still such a joy to be with,” he expressed.
He notes that her life will always be “inspirational” to him. “Your life story is and always will be inspirational to me. You did so much for my Olady even though you were uMamkhulu to her, even my first trip to Jozi was funded by your pension money and I will never forget that. Ulale kahle sthandwa sam,” said Okmalumkoolkat.

Born Smiso Zwane in Umlazi, KwaZulu-Nata Okmalumkoolkat is a South African rapper and producer known for his ability to fuse different sounds with Hip Hop.
He began his music career in the early 2000s and released his first album, Mlazi Milano in 2016. He has collaborated with many popular artists including Cassper Nyovest and Riky Rick. Okmalumkoolkat has been nominated for a number of other awards, including the MTV Europe Music Award for Best African Act.
