Giyani: Land of Blood actress, Zinhle Hlamani Mavasa is not responding to treatment after suffering a stroke.
The actress is according to her family fighting for her life in hospital in the ICU, since Monday, 29 May.
News of Zinhle’s condition was confirmed by the family in a statement on 01 June.
“It is with extreme sadness that we acknowledge the sickness of our beloved daughter.
The actress, professionally known for playing the character, Matimba on Giyani: Land of Blood suffered a stroke while alone at home on Monday. The stroke has affected her ability to speak, write and read.”
Speaking to Daily Sun, Zinhle’s sister, Tintswalo Mavasa said the family were praying for the best but her sister is fighting for her life.
According to Tintswalo, Zinhle may require an operation to her heart, because her heart took strain during the stroke.
The family suspects that Zinhle’s stroke was brought on by stress caused by her abusive relationship with her baby’s father.
“During her pregnancy, she went through a lot with him. He used to physically abuse her and there’s proof of that. She gave birth to their son, everything was fine, she even registered the baby on his surname.
After a few weeks, he claimed the baby wasn’t his and asked for a DNA test which came back 99.9% positive.”
Tintswalo says her sister has been through a lot, and is still mourning the loss of her 17-month old son who suffered with lung disease and brain damage.
The family asked for prayers and support during this difficult time, as Zinhle Hlamani Mavasa is the sole breadwinner at home.
