It’s not business as usual on Monday, 20 March as the EFF pull off a National Shutdown bringing much of the country to a complete standstill.
Scenes from various parts of South Africa paint a stark picture, one that echoes the sentiments of frustration and anger, sending a message to President Cyril Ramaphosa, that citizens have had enough.
The National Shutdown has highlighted that nothing is wrong with Eskom because over the weekend, the power utility dropped the stages of loadshedding due to what they call “lower demand for electricity.”
With taxi ranks and many provincial CBD’s standing empty, the EFF say its pleased with the successful National Shutdown which started from midnight on Monday, 20 March.
EFF members shared scenes from across the country where members came out in numbers to protest, while others staged a complete stay-away.
Below are scenes from Church Square in Pretoria, Johannesburg CBD, KwaZulu-Natal, Mamelodi taxi rank, and East London amongst others.
