Former leader of the DA, Mmusi Maimane is said to be recovering after being robbed at gunpoint.
Maimane is thankful no one was hurt in the incident when 3 armed men stormed into a Cape Town bar on Wednesday, 03 August.
The founder of One SA shared his traumatic experience, saying it felt like a scene from a movie.
“Tonight, I took my brother-in-law out for a drink at a bar. It wasn’t 30 minutes, when 3 gunmen came into the bar, pulled out guns, had all of us down and proceeded to rob every table.
The moment felt surreal, like a movie and the post effects are actually traumatic.”

Maimane said that crime is currently out of control in South Africa, but said he had little faith that the criminals will be found and arrested.
As much as police and private security arrived swiftly, Maimane said more has to be done to ensure that the spiralling crime is brought under control.
“I must be honest, I’m not sure those guys will get arrested. I don’t give up on our crime, we have to fight. We have to ensure policing is effective and the criminal justice system works. We need to form a greater part of localised policing. Put fear back on criminals and not citizens.”
