Political leaders Mmusi Maimane and Malusi Gigaba have officially graduated from the University of Johannesburg.
The university proudly conferred Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Public Management and Governance on the two prominent South African politicians.
“A proud moment of academic excellence. Congratulations to them,” the institution shared in a celebratory post.
Maimane is currently leading the Build One South Africa (BOSA) party, which secured parliamentary seats in the 2024 elections.
Born in Soweto in 1980, Maimane’s political career gained significant traction when he became the first black South African to lead the Democratic Alliance (DA) from 2015 to 2019.
His fellow graduate, Malusii Gigaba has held several significant cabinet positions within the African National Congress (ANC) government.
Born in Eshowe, KwaZulu-Natal, Gigaba rose through the ranks of the ANC Youth League, serving as its national president for three consecutive terms from 1996 to 2004.
