McCain Foods South Africa has announced a volunteer recall of its frozen green beans and Spar branded stir-fry mix.
This is due to reports that fragments of foreign material has been detected in the products.
In a statement, McCain SA confirmed that small glass fragments originating from a light fitting has affected a limited batch of its products.
A detailed list of the affected batches of the brand’s frozen green beans and French stir-fry mix is included on McCain’s website.

The national recall is effective immediately and customers are urged to return all products to the store of purchase.
If details on the packs match those listed on the company’s website, McCain will generate a voucher for customers to replace the product.
Affected foodservice customers can return products to their relevant distributors in exchange for a credit note.
The frozen food brand has removed all potentially impacted stock from retail shelves and assures the public that stringent measures have been put in place to address the situation.
In addition, retailers and foodservice customers have been formally notified of the current return procedures in place.
