Ekurhuleni Mayor Mzwandile Masina said he will lay charges against speaker Raymond Dlamini and Mayor Tania Campbell after being dragged out of council chambers on Thursday, 31 March.
Masina said he was assaulted and left humiliated at the manner in which he was treated.
Video footage from the disruption in chambers was shared to social media, which shows Ekurhuleni Metro Police (EMPD) officers and private security removing Masina from council chambers.

Masina said instead of managing disagreements in-house in an amicable way, Dlamini chose to use an iron-fist when chaos erupted.
He denied throwing bottles and instigating a hostile environment and said he would have left the chambers if he was asked to do so.
“I never threw bottles. All I did was call point of orders when the speaker was ignoring glaring mistakes. What happened yesterday is unfair and unjust and will have to be challenged.”

In another video, Masina can be seen outside chambers, with his shirt, tie and waistcoat out of place and him looking roughed up.
He said he was manhandled because the speaker couldn’t answer his valid questions after Mayor Campbell’s address.
Masina said the DA-led council was incompetent and could not validate their statements, which is when force was used to silence him.
“I will open a case against the mayor, the speaker and the MEC of police tomorrow because I am a public representative and have all the rights in council to raise issues.”
