A 64-year-old man in the Eastern Cape is set to appear in the Kariega magistrate court today for the murder of his son, 35, on Saturday, 9 July 2022 in Kwanobuhle.
It is alleged that on Saturday around 18:55 the man and his son had an argument.
The man then went to his bedroom and returned armed, shooting his son twice – on the chest and in the arm.
The victim then ran out to the streets for help before collapsing. He was taken to hospital by a resident but succumbed to injuries sustained.
The suspect was arrested at the hospital while he was also receiving treatment. His second son, 39, assaulted him with a brick after hearing about the fatal shooting.
The firearm was confiscated by police and a case of murder is under investigation.
