Irate residents of Kempton Park have resorted to dumping their refuse and waste onto main roads, after weeks of uncollected waste.
Residents say the City of Ekurhuleni’s waste collectors have not collected refuse in 4-weeks, and have been forced to illegally dump their refuse outside the Highveld Transfer Station.
One of the area’s main roads, Commissioner Road near Sir Pierre Van Ryneveld High School looks like a dump site.
Stretches of road with spilling refuse and waste is an eyesore and Kempton Park is slowly turning into a health hazard.
An open stretch of road opposite the high school smells like a refuse site, with a rat infestation building.

Speaking to Kaya News, frustrated residents say they are paying for services they are not receiving.
“When is this issue of garbage removal going to be sorted in Kempton Park? We are paying for these services. We’re lucky if our refuse is collected twice a month.”
“We’re tired of living in a dump, all we get from councillors are excuses.”
