Popular traditional healer Makgotso Mofokeng, also known as Gogo Maweni, was back in the Protea North Magistrates Court on Monday morning.
She was charged with assault with intent to cause serious bodily harm for an incident which took place in Dlamini, Soweto in December 2019.
According to reports, Maweni used a bottle to assault the complainant, striking her on the mouth.
Kaya News says Magistrate Rozelle Khiya heard that Gogo Maweni has previous convictions.
Earlier confirmation by the South African Police Service (SAPS) allege she has also been connected to five murder cases.
Maweni has been ordered to present herself at a local Gauteng police station whenever she wants to travel and to not interfere with witnesses or evidence in her assault case.
Mofokeng was given a bail of R5000.
The court proceedings will resume on Tuesday, 11 February.
