Eskom expects to downgrade loadshedding over the weekend from Stage 5, gradually to Stage 4 and 3.
The power utility says the ease on loadshedding is due to an improvement in generation capacity.
However, there is still a high degree of uncertainty which could change at any time.
Since Thursday, 02 February, the state-owned entity said two generation units at Duvha, a unit each at Arnot, Camden, Grootvlei, Kendal, Kriel and Majuba returned to service.
One generating unit at Lethabo was taken out of service due to a breakdown.
In a statement, Eskom said the country will be downgraded to Stage 4 on Friday and then to Stage 3 on Saturday.
By Sunday, loadshedding will be eased to Stage 2 if Eskom is able to maintain the recovery of failing units.

The ease on loadshedding comes after the EFF pushed to stage a National Shutdown over the electricity crisis in March.
Calling once again for President Cyril Ramaphosa to resign, the EFF is determined to bring the country to a standstill in order for the rolling blackouts to be addressed.
