Duduzane Zuma got his hands dirty, helping KZN flood victims with cleanup operations. The Chairperson of the ANC ward 11 in KwaZulu-Natal, helped shovel mud out of a man’s home in Marrianridge.
While some South Africans have lauded Jacob Zuma’s son for his hands-on approach, others say it’s nothing more than a PR-stunt for attention.
However, this isn’t the first time the businessman and aspiring politician has joined communities on the ground, to clean up areas that were in dire need of help.
Earlier this year, videos of Duduzane Zuma distributing food and cleaning up neglected communities were shared.
Zuma said that there were no excuses and work needs to be done. “A lot of people talk but it’s about the action,” Duduzane Zuma said.
Hailed by many communities in KZN as “the people’s president”, the 37-year old was also spotted volunteering at water and food distribution sites in the province.
In the video that was shared by Zuma’s associate, Winston Innes, Duduzane can be seen digging up mud from a flood victim’s home.
He tells the man, “this is our home” and proceeds to shovel away mud.
Zuma who previously shared with Sizwe Dhlomo on Kaya Drive that he does not have social media accounts, was happy to be in front of the camera whilst addressing the communities affecting by the floods.
Urging more people to get involved and donate water, mattresses, blankets and hot meals, Zuma said he was appreciative of those who reached into their pockets in times of crisis.
