A couple have been banned from FlySafAir for indecent behaviour on board a flight from Johannesburg to Durban.
This after a fellow passenger who was sitting next to the pair witnessed and recorded the intimate act in full view of other passengers.
Speaking to News24, the Durban businessman who didn’t want to be mentioned, said he has been scarred by the lewd act, and was in shock when the airline at first didn’t respond to his complaint seriously.
The man shared that he felt sick to his tummy to be sitting next to the couple, while the woman performed a “handjob” on her partner.
“A woman sitting next to me was giving her male partner a handjob while the plane was still on the runway waiting to take off.
I couldn’t leave my seat for safety reasons. I had to sit there and listen to them kiss and laugh for about 5 minutes, while she continued to touch her partner’s crotch.”
The concerned passenger said he recorded the incident to show flight crew as proof, instead he was ridiculed and his complaint was brushed off.
He asked for a different seat and sent a complaint to FlySafAir via email.
FlySafAir personnel on board the flight merely spoke to the couple but there were no repercussions for the couple despite public indecency being against the law.
The airline’s spokesperson, Kirby Gordon said the couple have since been banned from their airline and the passenger has the option of opening a criminal charge against the couple for their indecent behaviour affecting him negatively.
“We’re not happy to have them aboard one of our flights again. The captain could certainly have made the cal to divert or have SAPS at arrival if they believe that safety is in question, and they will often lay charges. But, the choice and impact of doing so is very much something that’s up to them as it will be here for the businessman.”
However, the businessman said he didn’t feel it was his responsibility to lay the charge and said the airline should have committed to following through with the proper legal implications.
