Certain hospitals and clinics in the City of Johannesburg will be exempt from the country’s load-shedding thanks to City Power.
Due to the difficulties that some healthcare facilities encounter as a result of power outages, they will now be excluded.
Only roughly 10 of the municipality’s more than 130 health facilities can be exempted.

The Department of Health contacted the organization to inquire about exempting its facilities from power shedding, according to City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena. He claimed that City Power is taking steps to prevent major service interruptions.
“While we are committed as City Power to ensure there is minimal to no disruptions to the essential services such as clinics and hospitals, it is difficult to exclude all of them from load shedding. From the list we received there are over 130 health facilities including clinics and hospitals within the City of Joburg.”
