A Cape Town man was left speechless after a trip to his local Engen garage left him with R120K less in his account.
Sebastian Santino De Allende stopped at the Engen garage in Muizenberg, Cape Town on Thursday, 08 September to fill up his tank.
He said he asked for R1200 worth of petrol but was charged over R120K due to a blunder by the petrol attendant.
Sebastian was charged R120 020.14 for 52-litres of petrol. Shocked at his alarming bill, the Italian-born businessman took his grievance to social media to vent and call Engen to fix their error.
“Engen, I expect better! My full tank of petrol was R1 200, your cashier too R120 020.14 from by account. This took place at Muizenberg Garage on Thursday, 08 September. However, I have contacted the garage and they now need to fix this!”

Sebastian said he has since deleted the post because the matter had been resolved, and that Engen apologised and swiftly returned the money to his account.
“Thank you to everyone for sharing the post about Engen. It got their attention and they immediately apologised and returned the money.”
Sebastian’s costly ordeal went viral on social media, receiving some hilarious responses with many tagging Engen in their comments.
“That person who was over-charged at the petrol station had a R120k+ just chilling in their account.
People got money ‘coz me if I try to swipe anything over R700+, I get an insufficient funds notification!”
