High-profile Liquidator Cloete Murray, 50, has died in hospital a few hours after his son Thomas, 28, was shot dead in a suspected hit on Saturday afternoon.
The incident took place near the New Road off-ramp right in front of the Engen petrol station in Midrand.
Murray and his son, Thomas, a legal advisor, were traveling from Johannesburg to Pretoria in a Toyota SUV before armed men opened fire.
The 50-year-old was rushed to hospital after sustaining serious injuries to the head while his son died on the scene.
Cloete Murray worked on numerous high-profile liquidations including Bosasa and a number of the Guptas companies.
Police are investigating a case of murder and attempted murder and request anyone who may have information that can assist with investigations to contact the Crime Stop Line at 08600 10111 or anonymously report tip-offs on MySaps application.
