There’s been another shooting in Westbury which has claimed the life of a 19-year old male.
Police spokesperson in Gauteng, Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo confirmed the shooting which occurred on Tuesday, 21 March at approximately 18h30.
“Police in Gauteng are investigating a case of murder and searching for suspects after a 19-year old was shot and killed in Westbury.
The victim was walking in the street when he was shot several times by unknown suspects.
Although he was rush to a medical centre, the victim was certified dead on arrival.
The motive for the shooting is unclear at this stage. Police have begun investigations.”

The latest shooting comes just two weeks after Police Minister Bheki Cele assured the community of Westbury that more police would be deployed to curb gang violence in the area.
Since February a number of shootings have left residents of Westbury in fear, with a number of fatalities confirmed and injuries reported daily.
Cele acknowledged that an interdisciplinary strategy is more important than ever to address the problems in the region. He asserted that the Westbury neighbourhood merits better than what has been occurring.
