AKA’s family does not support the negative narrative that has been doing the rounds about his friends and their involvement in the slain rapper’s gruesome murder.
Speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday, 14 February, AKA’s father, Tony Forbes thanked the public for the outpouring of love and support they’ve received after his son was gunned down.
Tony Forbes expressed disappointment at the rumours, conspiracies and speculation about AKA’s murder.
Forbes said that the family stands by all Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes’ friends who were with him the night he was shot execution-style on Florida Road, Durban.
“Kiernan’s close friends have been at our side since his death. They’ve extended themselves beyond expectations, they’ve really gone out of their way to support us.
It just shows how truly loved Kiernan was and we’re proud of that.
We’re aware of the various statements made in the media, most importantly the NPA’s declaration which we were aware of from June last year.
We extend our love to the friends who were with Kiernan in Durban, and we feel their trauma and pain as well. Our home will always be open to them.
We do not condone what is being said about his friends and those making dangerous statements and we appeal for them to seize from doing so.”

The Forbes family say their only focus right now is to give their son a dignified send-off and call for respect in this regard.
AKA will be laid to rest on Saturday, 18 February at a private provincial funeral but his memorial service on Friday, 17 February will be open to the public.
