At the age of 119, a Japanese woman who was officially recognized as the world’s oldest individual passed away.
Kane Tanaka was born the same year as George Orwell, in 1903, at a time when Japan was establishing itself as a global force.
She married and had four children over a century ago. She spent the latter years of her life in a Japanese nursing home, where she loved board games and chocolate.
