Luvo Ngqaza, the 19-year-old who was captured on camera beating his grandmother has been released on conditions.
On Monday, 15 July the Kuilsriver Magistrates Court granted the elderly Kraaifontein woman, Sindiwe Ngqaza a protection order and released her grandson on warning with conditions.
This after social media users demanded justice for Sindiwe after watching her be assaulted and notified police about the incident. The video shows a young man going by the name of Luvo Ngqaza striking his grandma during a heated argument.
Luvo Ngqaza’s conditions include that he must attend his trial, stay at a prescribed address in Bloekombos, must attend school regularly and be placed under under house arrest from Friday afternoons until Monday mornings.
His case is postponed until 27 September 2024 and he is released on warning.
Following the incident, Somizi is trying to trace the grandmother (gogo) who was beaten by her grandson in Wallacedene, Kraaifontein, Cape Town.
After the video of the 55-year’s assault went viral, the media personality said his spirit is not alright and he wants to help the gogo receive trauma counselling after the ordeal.
