A Queensburgh family were left devastated after their 11-year-old daughter died after hijackers ran over her as they made off with her mother’s Toyota Fortuner.
Zara Ramsamy and her brother were waiting inside the vehicle while their mother and grandmother were standing at the entrance of McDonald’s Malvern.
The family went to get a celebratory meal after little Zara’s performance in her school concert when 4 armed men accosted her mother and grandmother.
Zara and her brother noticed what was happening as the men demanded the keys to the vehicle, and while her brother ran out of the vehicle to safety, Zara hid under her mother’s car.
The gunmen jumped into the vehicle and as they were driving off in the Fortuner, ran over Zara who was rushed to the hospital but sadly succumbed to her injuries.
A candlelight night vigil was held by the Embassy Church on Thursday night in memory of Zara Ramsamy and over 400 community members, friends and family gathered.
