A 60-year-old KwaZulu-Natal teacher has been sentenced to 2 life terms for the rape of 2 boys in 2019.
Patrick Bheki Nkosi was sentenced this week for the heinous crime he committed in 2019 when the boys were just 4 and 5 years old.
Nkosi who was a teacher at the school the young boys attended, lured the boys to his house where he raped them and then gave them each a R2 to silence them.
The boys had reportedly been sent to a tuckshop when Nkosi approached them.
One of the boys’ mother reported the rape after her son complained about pain around his buttocks.
When his mother inspected her son she realized that he had been violated and her son detailed what had happened.
Nkosi was arrested and remained in custody throughout the duration of the case.
Earlier this month, the Democratic Alliance (DA) in Gauteng shared that over 95% of teachers in Gauteng are not vetted by the Child Protection Register.
According to the DA, the safety of learners in the province is at risk as only 4.5% of teachers, or 3,750 out of 83,828 have been vetted against the Child Protection Register (CPR).
