Mohale Motaung, Somizi Mhlongo’s estranged husband, claims he had no intention of having private details of his marriage exposed to the public, nor it seems did Mohale intend to cause disrepute to Somizi’s public image.
Since allegations of abuse within the couple’s marriage hit the Sunday World, both Somizi and Mohale have issued statements in this regard, with Somizi claiming there was just one altercation which both parties needed to defend themselves.
In a statement over the weekend, Mohale explains that the audio interview which has sparked the abuse allegations against his soon-to-be ex-husband Somizi was a privileged conversation with one of the producers of Living the dream with Somizi.
The interview was done to give context as to why Mohale did not want details of his impending divorce to be laid bare in the upcoming season of the show.
Mohale says that he trusted the person with whom he spoke in confidence and had never imagined that his story would be exploited in this manner.
“The release of these conversations has stripped me of the right I had previously reserved to tell my story when I was ready!”
The Rockville actor reiterates that he was abused both physically and psychologically by Somizi but does not wish to “seesaw my experience against his as he only has his conscience to reckon with.”
The 26-year old’s focus is on his livelihood and he wishes to reserve his right to privacy and not comment any further while the couple quietly finalize their divorce.
