Midday Joy listeners share with Unathi that their partners pull the disappearing act and go days without word.
From the sound of it, December isn’t the only time people are prone to going awol on their significant others, with some making it a regular occurrence. Only to return days, sometimes weeks later like nothing happened.
According to relationship experts people who do this are emotionally unavailable. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been living together, the relationship is fairly new or you’re married, going days without communicating with your partner is a sign of disrespect.
It will be difficult to try to have a healthy relationship with such a person because they’re not as emotionally invested in the relationship as you might be.
Pulling a disappearing act takes ghosting to a whole new level of inconsiderate. Take it as a sign the relationship is dead in the water.
What does it mean when they disappear?
They’re with someone else
This might be a hard pill to swallow but if someone is treating you like you’re an option, it’s probably because you are. The sooner you accept this, the sooner you can cut your losses.
A person who disappears on you is showing you that you cannot expect consistency from them. They give you excuses and because you’re in denial will believe them and so the cycle continues.
They’re not interested in committing to you
Chances are they’ve already decided you’re not the person they want to be with. Men especially know if they see a future with someone in the early stages of a relationship. If they’re not giving you commitment, it’s most likely because they’re exploring their options.
They got what they wanted from you
Not to be the bearer of bad news but people use people. Unfortunate though it is, many move on once they have taken what they wanted from you. Whether financially, sexually or out of opportunity, they’re only with you under pretence. Maybe it’s a matter of convenience, such as you sharing expenses or out of guilt because you have kids together that they’re still around.
