Reality television star Pinkygirl, real name Tebogo Mekgwe took a break away from the limelight after losing her father in 2022. She joins Bonolo BeeSting on The Hive to chat about her dad’s passing, moving back home, launching her YouTube channel, and getting back into the swing of things.
“I have been home for 6 months after losing my job last year,” she tells BeeSting. “I never became that girl who got lost in Joburg. It is hard to move on after losing someone that was that close to your heart. I took time out to mourn my dad because depression is a real thing.”
Pinkygirl is now ready to get back to work and has launched a YouTube channel. After winning many hearts on Bonang’s reality show Being Bonang, she notes that a ‘lot has been said about’ her in the media and she is now taking charge of her story.
The 34-year-old learned many things from Bonang, one of those being ‘consistency.’
“You need to wake up and do it. As long as you put it in your mind and you can do it,” she adds.
Pinkygirl started out as an IT Specialist. She notes that contrary to popular belief, she didn’t leave her job to be on tv. She left because her work in entertainment was affecting her job in corporate so she had to choose.
