On Wednesday morning, Sizwe Dhlomo and the team debated the dynamics around adult children living with their parents.
They touched on the societal norms and standards associated with this phenomenon for both men and women.
Mfundo Mabalane was not opposed to the idea of living with family, as long as everyone got along. Mpho Maboi added that, with the current state of the economy, living with your parents isn’t such a bad idea.
“I believe that in today’s economy, where property prices and living on your own are very expensive, I understand why people do live at home up until a time when you are properly on your feet financially and you can take care of yourself. However, after 35, you need to have your place.”
Sizwe Dhlomo also chimed in, adding that there is a lot of wasted space in today’s society. He admitted to being guilty of this.
“Essentially, people are living in houses by themselves, including myself, where they have ample space, and that space is just wasted while you could be living multiple generations within that one household.”
Listeners also joined in, with some ladies sharing their thoughts on men who still live at home. Listen to the full conversation on the podcast:
