American rapper Doja Cat has publicly criticized her father, Dumisani Dlamini, for being absent in her life. She called him out for not being there for her but also mentioned that she has still managed to succeed despite his absence.
In a bold move, Doja Cat took to social media to express her feelings towards her father, stating, “My dad’s a deadbeat, but I did well.” She also sarcastically offered to replenish his makeup cabinet.
Despite their strained relationship, Dlamini has expressed pride in Doja Cat‘s success.
“I’m so proud of her for what she has achieved. I’m not surprised, because it’s in the blood. All my kids are very talented. I think South Africa as a whole should be proud of such great talent coming from us,” said Dlamini.
Doja Cat gained popularity through her 2019 single Say So from her second album Hot Pink which went viral on TikTok and became a mainstream hit.
TikTok. The song’s catchy disco-influenced sound and the dance challenge associated with it helped it reach a global audience. Say So peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
