Banyana Banyana will be heading to New Zealand after South African Football Association (SAFA) and the players union have reached an agreement.
This after the woman’s national team were disputing their compensation for their participation in 3 World Cup Group G matches.
On Wednesday, 05 July, the Patrice Motsepe Foundation stepped in to help resolve the dispute, after players learned they would not be receiving any compensation from the federation outside of the R562 K from FIFA.
Following the Foundation’s intervention, SAFA and the players union have reached an agreement that over and above what FIFA will be paying players, each Banyana Banyana player will receive R230 000.
Additionally support staff members will receive a further R150 000.
President of the SA Football Players Union, Thulaganyo Gaoshubelwe spoke to Phemelo Motene about an agreement between Banyana Banyana and SAFA over World Cup bonuses that has resulted in their impasse being resolved.
