Renowned South African DJ and music producer, Oscar Mbo, recently graced My Top 10 at 10 with Tbose for an exclusive sit-down interview following the release of his new project, Yes God.
Mbo reflected on his unexpected rise to success, sharing insights gained during this journey, where he found himself navigating a learning curve amidst the unexpected evolution of the house music scene.
“The bar went up too quickly and unexpectedly. During those times, I learned a lot of things. It was confusing because I was learning so much. During this time, there is a genre dominating the country, which is Amapiano. In between, I became part of the culture, and I realized how much I needed people who are experienced in the industry. There also wasn’t a lot of time because I was touring so much. It was a learning stage,” said Mbo.
Additionally, Mbo acknowledged that along the way, he encountered disappointments in relationships where he had hoped for more significant collaborations and support. This inspired him to pay it forward by empowering others.
Yes God boasts an impressive lineup of talented artists such as Coco SA, Kabza De Small, Kelvin Momo, and Chyma Music, just to name a few. Originally consisting of twenty tracks, Mbo had to make the difficult decision to narrow it down to ten, a testament to the abundance of quality music he had created.
Oscar Mbo has grand plans to release a full album before the year’s end, promising an exclusive preview on My Top 10 at 10.
