Comedian Tumi “Stopnonsons” Matila was granted bail on Friday, 11 August, for the alleged assault of his ex-girlfriend.
As reported by Sunday World, Stopnonsons is accused of handling his breakup with Thando Ngemane badly, and allegedly assaulted her after she broke up with him.
The SABC 1 presenter also allegedly pointed a firearm at her friend, Tsholofelo Kgosimotho, and was detained at the Honeydew Police Station, from Tuesday, 08 August.
“Police can confirm that a 31-year old suspect was arrested and charged with assault and pointing of a firearm.”

After making appearances at the Randburg Magistrates Court on Thursday, and Friday, 10 and 11 August, the comedian was released on R2 000 bail.
This after Kgosimotho reportedly opposed his bail on Thursday.
In addition to the charges against him, both Ngemane and Kgosimotho filed protection orders against Tumi Stopnonsons.
The 31-year old’s lawyer argued that should his client’s bail application be prolonged, he will be missing out on paying gigs which were lined up for the weekend.
Stopnonsons’ manager, Itumeleng Matolo said the Ikasi Lam, personality will be continuing with his comedy shows.
The comedian hasn’t released a statement regarding the charges against him.
