On Tuesday morning, Kgomotso Meso (standing in for Sizwe Dhlomo), Mpho Maboi, Mfundo Mabalane, and Juliet Joseph (standing in for Sol Phenduka) engaged in a candid discussion about moments from their journeys into adulthood.
Mpho Maboi expressed her initial excitement upon turning 40, as she had been told it would mark a significant turning point in her life. “I’m 43 now, and I couldn’t care less,” remarked Maboi, highlighting a shift in perspective over the years.
Adding to the conversation, Mfundo Mabalane delved into her experiences in her 30s, emphasizing that it wasn’t solely about material acquisitions. “For me, my 30s were a period of inspiration and liberation,” Mabalane reflected. “That’s where the “I don’t care” comes in. You do sort of decrease the company you keep; the friends become smaller because it has to mean something. It is just not about the numbers. The little time you have to socialise needs to be with the people that make sense for you. You are free to say I need to be selfish,” said Mabalane.
The discussion extended beyond the team as they encouraged listeners to engage in introspection.
