Health is wealth, but does wealth also equate to health? The connection between the two are deeply connected.
As humans we spend most of our lives working on acquiring wealth, sacrificing our health and wellbeing in the process.
Often, by the time that wealth is attained, our health deteriorates and no amount of money can reverse that.
“When health is absent, wealth becomes useless.”
Ancient Greek physician Herophilus once said
Financial advisors will advocate about the long-term benefits of saving for the future and safeguarding your money. But what is the point of this if you are not healthy to eventually enjoy your wealth with your loved ones?
Choosing health
We all know what the basic steps to living a healthy life are.
- Cut down on alcohol
- Quit smoking
- Eat healthily
- Exercise
- Get regular health screenings
- Focus on mental health
- Get sufficient sleep
Even by checking off all of the above, there are no guarantees in life. The most anyone can do is aim for healthy living and have strategies in place to secure your future financially.
Whilst it’s the ideal wish to have both, that’s not always possible.
Sandile van Heerden and Tyroline Franks will take their health over wealth any day.
Having all the money in the world but being sick with limited time left to enjoy that wealth is such a paradox.
A lot of the listeners who responded would rather choose health.
Many shared stories praying for their loved ones to make a recovery from illnesses and they understand how difficult it is to comes to terms with losing someone who is sick.
Health over wealth for most.
