The adage happy wife, happy life gets thrown around a lot by people who generally advocate for marriage but what does this mean for the peace and happiness of the husband?
On Drive 959 the team weighed in on marriage dynamics and posed the question, “is a man’s role in a marriage solely to pander to his wife’s whims and fancies?”
After a few men responded that this isn’t practical because “women don’t have a limit to happiness and just want more.”
Many took this to mean, lavish the woman in your life with material possessions.
Broken down this means understanding your partner, learning their love language and being accepting of the give and take that’s necessary for a happy relationship.
Happy wife equals happy life
According to research, a man’s happiness is marginal in ensuring children and a relationship flourishes. A study by the Marriage Foundation found that a mother’s happiness is nearly twice as important as a father’s when it comes to family life and the chances of the couple staying together.
What it boils down to is profoundly what so many women accuse their husbands and boyfriends of neglecting. Communication aside, a woman was more likely to be happy in her marriage or relationship when she’s made a priority.
Consulting your partner before you make a big decision, including her in your life and making time for her during your busy day goes a long way.
