The Jacob Zuma Foundation has called for people to “lend a helping hand” and donate towards the former president’s legal fees costs.
“Dear People of South Africa and the world. Please lend a helping hand,” the foundation tweeted on Tuesday morning.
Foundation spokesperson, Mzwanele Manyi said the donations will cover all court battles that the former president is expected in.
The former statesman is due back in court next month for his corruption trial and he is also seeking to secure a recission application against the Constitutional Court.
This after Zuma underwent emergency surgery at an undisclosed hospital for a “life-threatening” condition that plagued him for over a year. According to his legal team led by advocate, Dali Mpofu argued that his client had neglected his health due to his court obligations.

Jacob Zuma has faced countless acts of litigations over the years all totalling millions. In April the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) ruled that the decision for the state attorney to pay for Zuma’s attorney and counsel in the fraud and corruption case over payments he received from French arms dealer Thales and tenderpreneur Schabir Shaik in the 1990s was unlawful.
This after the EFF and DA called for Zuma to be held accountable for his legal costs and challenged the legality of payments amounting to R15.3 million which the state had unlawfully paid.
The payments included R7-million before the case was withdrawn and another R7.7-million after it was reopened.
South Africans are not impressed by the foundation’s call for donations:
The fact that Duduzane goes to Dubai anytime he wants and I never been in Dubai I cant even afford to on holiday here in Limpopo
It means I’m not a target market for this donation pic.twitter.com/6e0g15VFEz

Why doesn’t that rich businessman Duduzane cover his daddy’s legal fees? Old man must resort to go fund me Twitter posts.
