Hlubi Mboya needs no introduction to the average South African and her larger-than-life personality is all-consuming. She joined Proverb on the Winner’s Circle as the Champion of the Week and it’s clear to see why.
With an intensity that fuels her career endeavours, Hlubi (now Mboya-Arnold) is not about the Instagram life that so many live up to. Her ambitions revolve around protecting her energy and aligning her ‘content’ to inspire and bring about change.
She opened up to Proverb about her tough childhood and how life’s experiences have molded her to be forward-thinking and push the boundaries of her comfort zone.
“I realise I can’t please everybody, and I can’t give my authentic self without refilling the cup.”
The pandemic forced her to rethink the important facets of life, bringing about a paradigm shift in her goals and objectives.
“The pandemic has taught me what’s important to ME. For me to decide on work in 2021, it would need to be an alignment of what I’ve received over the years.”
As an HIV/Aids ambassador, Hlubi travels throughout Africa spreading awareness and aiming for a behavioural change against the stigma associated with the disease.
She is an incredible voice for women of colour and is outspoken about the transformational discrepancies that sees many women limited.
