Family, friends and colleagues have gathered at the South African State Theatre in Pretoria to celebrate the life of the beloved actor, who died from diabetes-related complications.

The memorial service for veteran South African actor Seputla Sebogodi is currently underway at the South African State Theatre in Pretoria.
Sebogodi passed away on Tuesday evening, 15 July 2026, due to complications related to diabetes, his family confirmed. He was 63 years old.
The acclaimed performer was best known for his iconic roles as Kenneth Mashaba on Generations and Nkwesheng in Bophelo Ke Semphego, among many others.
A second memorial service will be held on Friday, 24 July, at the Jack Botes Hall in Polokwane, Limpopo. His funeral service will take place at the same venue on Saturday, 25 July.
