Skeem Saam actor Clement Maosa recently joined Podcast And Chill’s celebrity edition with Sol and Mac G as a guest.
During their sitdown, the actor opened up about his humble upbringing in Limpopo.
“I think my village is 120 kilometers away from Polokwane. I was very quiet and use to look after my parents’ cattle. My dad worked at the farms and we had a lot of livestock. I used to herd cattle, sheep, and goats. That was basically my childhood,” he told the hosts.
Clement says he was a focused child in high school. He wanted to share his story because people only see him now as a success.
“Growing up as a villager a lot of people don’t know your story. They only see you as a success. They think that you always had it easy.”
He revealed that both his mom and dad were domestic workers and he grew up very poor. “I used to have a lot of envy and anger within me because I’ve always envied other kids,” he adds.
It was only at University that Clement saw a computer for the first time. “My situation back home made me an angry child,” he shared.
However, he turned his situation into motivation to work hard.
“It made me work even harder because I realsied that to get to where a Mac g is at, I had to work twice as hard,” said the actor.
