Lungelihle Zwane, also known as Uncle Waffles, a Swazi-born DJ and record producer living in South Africa, will go down in the history books at the Brooklyn Mirage in New York this August.
Uncle Waffles announced that she was the first Amapiano artist and black woman to headline the Nightclub in New York.
The Brooklyn Mirage is one of New York City’s biggest music venues with a capacious, 2,800-person outdoor venue on the border of Williamsburg and Bushwick.
A month ago Waffles also became the first amapiano DJ to headline the Wireless Festival, held yearly in London. She took to Instagram to share the good news and her exciting performance at the iconic venue.
“The first black woman to headline @brooklynmirage . The first Piano artist and many more to come! What do I even say. So much to share 🥹 thank you New York for helping me create history despite the weather. I can’t express how grateful I am. Thank you @amazonmusic for helping me share this with the world! To the @brooklynmirage thank you for being so amazing and choosing me! To the dancers, my team , thank you for riding so hard for this dream! Thank you guys so much,”
