Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Commander-in-Chief Julius Malema announced Sinawo Thambo as Floyd Shivambu’s replacement.
This after Shivambu resigned as Deputy President of the party last week, calling his move to join the newly formed uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party a political decision.
Malema however does not believe that Shivambu’s decision to leave the EFF was a political move, and said when he confronted his former Deputy about any complaints, he lacked the courage to address any matters.
The EFF leader said this blatant disrespect by Shivambu has severed the “friendship” with the MK Party in Parliament, legislature and council.
“Whoever wants to leave must leave. We have no reason to beg anyone. If you want to leave, leave now.
So, they can do what they want to do, we have achieved more than what we anticipated, politically and personally.
I am not shaken by any of these things.
There is no reason to be scared to tell me anything. I turned, looked at him and asked, ‘What did I do to you Floyd?’
He said nothing, it’s not about anything it’s a political decision, which I accepted.
I don’t believe that it was a political decision, but I respect that because it was his personal decision.”

Julius Malema said the EFF was never offered any positions in the GNU but he was prepared to step aside and allow Shivambu to be Minister of Finance.
Malema also called out fellow fighter, Mbuyiseni Ndlozi’s wife for liking Floyd Shivambu’s social media post where he announced he’s joining the MK Party.
The EFF leader called those who left the party opportunists who are only seeking greener pastures and called on party members to not be shaken by those who joined the party for political gain.
