Trevor Noah’s mother, Patricia Noah allegedly owes the South African Revenue Services (SARS) R24 million in taxes.
As reported by the City Press, the comedian’s mother is reportedly at risk of losing her assets for evading payment of outstanding taxes to the amount of R24 219 220.
According to the report, Noah’s mother failed to make payment of her taxes over the last few years, and has allegedly received a final letter of demand by SARS.
Patricia Noah is said to owe the money for her property business, PN Noah Estates and has reportedly been requested to make payment of the full amount within the next few days.
Failure to do so, as per City Press may result in the comedian’s mother losing her assets.
The publication claims to have been privy to the final letter of demand which was issued to Noah’s mother.
“You are requested to make full payment within days from the date of this letter of demand.
You may, within 10 business days from the date of this letter of demand, apply for any of the following remedies: payment instalments where you are unable to pay the full amount; suspension of the debt where you intend to submit or have submitted a formal dispute; compromise of a portion of the tax where this will provide a higher return to the fiscus than liquidation, sequestration or other collection measures.”
According to City Press this is what the final letter of demand to Trevor Noah’s mother stipulated
The letter reportedly also indicated that Patricia’s assets may be attached or sold by the appointed Sheriff of the court if she fails to settle the outstanding amount within 10-days.
