Sithelo Shozi has received support from Women For Change as she petitions for protection after speaking out about her abusive relationship with Andile Mpisane.
Last month, Andile’s ex and mother to two of his children, shared that she suffered a miscarriage after he’d beaten her.
The allegations were slammed by Andile’s mother, Shauwn Mkhize, who denied that Sithelo was ever abused by her son.
However, Women’s Rights organisations, South African celebrities and the ANCWL, have all rallied behind Sithelo.
Starting a petition to fight for justice after she was reportedly emotionally and physically abused, Sithelo has already received over 13 000 signatures.
She’s hoping to reach 15 000 signatures before she takes her case to the South African judiciary.

Sithelo details her abuse saying Andile still calls her to this day, threatening to kill her.
“The father of my children beat me to a pulp while I was pregnant with our last child, and I had to wait 3 days to find out if my baby would survive. The last draw was when the father of the children started questioning the paternity of our last child – after everything that I silently withstood. My children are far too young to live with a mother who is being bullied, intimidated and still facing abuse. I am a human being too and this kind of abuse has gone on for too long. I want freedom and justice.
The father of my child still calls threatening to kill me. Even though I’ve moved out of our joint home with the children, he has managed to find out where we now live.”
Sithelo Shozi petitions for protection after speaking out about being abused
According to Sithelo, she has filed for a protection order, the outcome of which will be decided on 31 October, when the matter is brought before the Point Waterfront Magistrates Court.
As she petitions for protection, Sithelo says she doesn’t want to be just another statistic whose name trends after her body is found.
“I don’t want to be one of the statistics – a number – or one of the women who die at the hands of a man, like many women do in this country. I don’t want cries for “Justice for Sithelo” when my body lies dead and cold. I want to live. I need protection. Please sign my petition.”
